The Misplaced Cane

Posted by

·

For the last several years, I have required the assistance of a walking cane. I’m now to the point of not needing it all the time which leads to its own problems.

At one point, I realized I had misplaced the cane and had no idea where. I backtracked everywhere I had been with no success.

A few weeks later, my wife and I visited our vacation home, and as we drove up, a maintenance van followed us. Our regular house cleaner hopped out…holding my cane. He had found it after our earlier visit but had no way to contact me. So he held on to it while he waited for my return. He could have tossed it, but he didn’t. His kindness made my day.
