New to the neighborhood

In the chaos of moving, I dropped off a few things early at my new apartment. As I got out of my car, a woman driving by rolled down her window to ask if I was moving in or moving out. She was trying to find the proper recipient of a package mistakenly delivered to her address. Before she left, she wished me luck with my move and assured me, “You’re going to love the neighborhood – it’s a great place to be.”

Hearing her words made me feel excited about my new place and at ease with my decision to move to this neighborhood specifically. Despite being only 10 minutes away from my previous residence, this street had a much more welcoming feel already.
