Appalachian Trail Angel

When @kevinjohnmartin (Substack) hiked 47 miles of the Appalachian Trail recently, he crossed paths with no one – until he saw BT on the side of the mountain trail with his pickup truck loaded up. For 27 years, without expecting anything in return, 70-something-year-old BT has handed out snacks, lemonade and sweet tea to hikers passing through his neck of the woods in Tennessee.

“If people are willing to walk 2,200 miles to Maine, the least I can do is make sure they get a cold drink along the way.” In Kevin’s words, “BT’s got life figured out.”
